  2. CD-ROM.

  7. This disc contains an electronic version of the SIGGRAPH 95
  8. Course Notes.   
  9.  
  10. At the top level you will find several files or directories.  Their
  11. names and contents are:
  12.  
  13. APPS -- directory
  14.    Contains two subdirectories:
  15.       ACROBAT:  Adobe Acrobat releases, with two subdirectories:
  16.          ACRO_V1:  Adobe Acrobat reader release 1.0 for DOS and Solaris
  17.          ACRO_V2:  Adobe Acrobat reader release 2.0 for Windows and
  18.             Macintosh
  19.      acrosgi: Adobe Acrobat reader release 1.0 for SGI IRIX 5.3
  20.  
  21.    If you are using the Acrobat 1.0 reader, these links will
  22.    not work; you will need to go to the individual paper (see the
  23.    notes on the PAPERS directory below) and open it individually.

  25. If you do not have the tools to view these figures or movies on your
  26. computer, there are some additional tools you might get to help you.
  27. These include:

  29. To read the PDF files:
  30.    The Aladdin GhostScript program will allow you to view PDF files
  31.    a page at a time on most workstations.  This application can be
  32.    downloaded from
  33.       ftp://ftp.cs.wisc.edu/ghost/aladdin

  35. To play the movies:
  36.    To play a QuickTime movie on a workstation, use the application
  37.    xanim, available by anonymous ftp from
  38.       ftp://ftp.portal.com/pub/podlinpec/xanim26978.tar.Z
  39.       ftp://ftp.portal.com/pub/podlinpec/xanim26978.tar.gz

  41.    To play an MPEG movie on any machine, see the MPEG FAQ file that can
  42.    be found on rtfm.mit.edu; this FAQ will list the latest MPEG players
  43.    for all major platforms.

  45. To see the TIFF images:
  46.    There are a number of shareware TIFF players available.  Some of them
  47.    may be downloaded from the networks and some are readily available
  48.    from other sources.   Remember that shareware is not freeware; if you
  49.    find that shareware is useful, you should pay the author the licensing
  50.    fee to use it.  Of course, commercial systems such as PhotoShop will
  51.    also let you view these image files quite well.
